What to Expect when you joinAfter joining, you will receive 2 workbooks, the Competent Communication manual and the Competent Leader manual. Also, the Toastmaster Magazine will start arrivng once a month to your mail box. Battlefords Toastmasters Meeting FormatAt 7:00, the Sergeant at Arms calls meeting to order and introduces the Chairman for the evening. The Chairman verifies any program/agenda changes and then introduces the Wordmaster for word of the day. Wordmaster chooses and introduces vocabulary word. After explaining the role, the Wordmaster returns meeting to the Chairman. Chairman then poses a question for introductions. Members introduce themselves and answer question posed. Chairman then introduces the member for Invocation/Thought of the day. Member presents a quote, invocation, or thought for the day. Chairman introduces member proposing the Toast. Chairman introduces the Toastmaster for the evening. Impromptu SpeakingThe Toastmaster gives opening comments and explanation of program. Then he introduces the Table Topics Master. The Table Topics Master explains Table Topics, timing and ballots, and conducts Table Topics. Table Topics Master calls for the Timers Report and calls for vote. Toastmaster introduces Table Topics Evaluator. Table Topics Evaluator evaluates table topics giving members positive feedback and suggestions for improvement. Toastmaster introduces the Jokemaster. Jokemaster tells an appropriate joke, avoids reading notes. Toastmaster returns meeting to Chairman for Business meeting. The Business MeetingChairman conducts business meeting. Chairman calls on Parliamentarian for report (see Chairman’s Guidelines under Helpful Link page). Parliamentarian gives Parliamentary Report. Chairman asks Timer to set time for 10 minute coffee break. Chairman brings meeting back to order. Thanks member for bringing the snack and returns meeting to the Toastmaster. After the BreakToastmaster introduces formal speaking portion of our program. Toastmaster introduces each speaker, speech objectives, timing and title of speech. We have time here for up to 3 members to present a speech from their manuals. After the speeches are completed, the Toastmaster introduces the General Evaluator. General Evaluator calls for Timer’s Report. General Evaluator then calls for a 2.5 minute evaluation break for members to vote for best speaker and to write notes and comments to each speaker. General Evaluator then introduces each Speech Evaluator. If more time is needed for the evaluators, the General Evaluator can conduct part or all of the general evaluation. Each Speech Evaluator evaluates the speech, offering positive feedback and suggestions for improvement. General Evaluator calls for final Timer's Report and calls members to vote for Best Evaluator. General Evaluator calls on Wordmaster for final report. Wordmaster reports on use of the word of the day, effective use of grammar and errors. General Evaluator completes general evaluation and returns meeting to Toastmaster. The Wrap-upToastmaster introduces the 2-minute Toastmaster. The 2-minute Toastmaster presents short educational session pertaining to Toastmasters. Toastmaster introduces Balloteer. Balloteer tallies votes and presents awards. Toastmaster calls upon Quizmaster. Quizmaster asks questions to test listening skills. Toastmaster calls upon Ah Counter. Ah Counter reports on use of Ahs, Ums and other fillers. Toastmaster returns meeting to Chairman. The Chairman then calls on the Mystery Greeter, fills in next weeks agenda, asks for guest comments, asks for any announcements for the "Betterment of Toastmasters". At 9:00, the Chairman adjourns the meeting.
